The two US political commentators on Aljazeera English are rather civilized. No shouting over each other, despite one being Republican and the other being Democrat. Very unlike the news shows in their country.

On the bird site, I waded through the unpleasant posts of right-wing libetarian shills who're like spoilt kids demanding we give them our sweets while they refuse to share those they already have.

Made me realise that Mastodon is where the grown ups have gone.

One trend I did spot over there was that Elno's blue tick is being used by satire accounts to troll conscience-light multinational companies.

& because of the sackings, there's no one to monitor/stop them.

@lack Atheism sort of took off with the various #communist revolutions in Eastern Europe (Latin American #leftists usually were more partial towards liberation theology of the “#Jesus was a #socialist” sort) and there was suppression of superstition in #China but even now, the #Chinese attitudes can’t really be called atheistic. They tend to believe in reincarnation and karma, and view #Buddhism favorably.
