What’s your biggest eBay buying disappointment? Over the past 27 years, I’ve received items packed in used socks and underwear, moldy carpet foam, and dusty vintage newspapers.

Musty cigarette funk

Sometimes people use a priceless retail box as the shipping box

And of course, more things have arrived shattered and destroyed than I would like 😁

@benjedwards The strangest eBay packaging was this box of cereal that had some cassette tapes in it. The cassette cases had cracks in them but luckily the tapes inside were fine.

@benjedwards This eBay seller was likely pleased they found a shipping box that was exactly the same size as a Mac Quadra 605. The Quadra did not agree that a single layer of bubble wrap was sufficient. Plastic shrapnel abound. 🤦‍♂️

@paulrickards Ouch! I feel your pain.

Once, a seller emailed me proudly, saying they used several inches of bubble wrap. And they did on the top.

After removing 4-5 inches of bubble wrap, I got to the computer, sitting on the back of the monitor. The monitor had a single layer of bubble wrap.

Oh. Its glass screen was facing down. But at least they set it on another single layer of bubble wrap!

I don't think people understand how gravity works.
