The conclusion after the first 10 days:

  • The (F-droid) app is good as a replacement for the previous using app, Epsilon (Google playstore). Still need to figure out how to make my own templates instead of copy-pasting the last daily and adjusting the specific fields.
  • Early on, created a could write about list, though haven’t utilized it yet, since little to no motivation to tackle those topics.
  • Quite prone to procrastinate towards the daily until right before bed time, thus creating a more rushed entry. For the next stretch of the challenge the goal is to complete most of the daily within the first four hours of the day.
  • With the last point comes also the issue of not knowing what to write about. Thus, I will permit backlog writing, one can start writing about a topic prior to the publish day.
  • And finally, ten days is a good starting range for a challenge, though not enough time to conclude if it is creating a positive change. Thereby want to add the addition goal of adding one long form article per month. So for the next 15 days it will be two articles.

The conclusion after the first 25 days:

  • The initial rule with the slumber comes quite beneficial when staying awake across multiple days.
  • Started implementing some backlog writing, though none became fruitful enough to publish.
  • The one long article per month was not able to upheld, though can first conclude it as a failed experiment at the end of this year.
  • The goal of writing in the first four hours of the day, backfired more often than actually being helpful, since it prolonged the time to be more productive in other areas of life.
  • The main goal for the next 25 days is to get at least one long article out.

Good news, the challenge continues!

Things that were realized:

  • The monthly long form article sub-goal seems like the hardest part of the challenge. Although many have made it to the draft stage, they seem to wait in purgatory until deemed onto them further processing.
  • With the recent shift in the from daily to weekly, it is permitted to use the required blog post as a daily blog, thus removing myself from generating two posts on Sunday’s.
  • After using / for a good 50 days, it is my preferred keyboard over the default one. Plus it comes with the added benefit that it is another security measure against potential physical attackers. Well, only those who are not savy enough to know how to exchange the keyboard. Though still have nostalgia for the swipe functionality existing on the keyboard. Still missing a solution for emojis.
  • In the 26th (qoto.org/@barefootstache/11090) edition it was mentioned about the struggle of writing in the first hours of the day and have concluded that is only true if either no topic or theme exists. If either is present, then it is much more fruitful compared to waiting the last minute, where it feels those are rushed.
  • Having a theme makes writing so much easier, which I have realized with the past 6 days talking about . Plus being a so-called expert in the theme simplifies the writing even more and makes it more joyish over a chore. The same can be said with a topic.
  • I am still hesitant with “hashtag bloat” or “hashtag spam” - quite popular on other social media platforms - though when well used on (evergreen) content, one can harvest its bounty many days later, usually through being favorited or boosting. Thus, where applicable trying to integrate the hashtags directly into the post (as seen here) and mitigate them at the end. Though since hashtags are one of the ways for posts to cross instances it is something that should be monitored more closely.
