The definition of being proficient in a motor skill should not only be able to teach the skill, but also to perform the skill without solely relying on eyesight.

If we take for example in dim light (max 5m eyesight), relying solely on eyesight won’t get you very far quickly.

One of the typical obstacles one will acquire are potholes. These can be dodged if caught early enough or can be overtaken if the speed isn’t too high. Though in either case one should have the ability to react appropriately in a failed situation without being fully launched from the .

One option is jump the pothole at least with the front wheel. Or one can try to shift one’s weight backwards to create a similiar effect as the prior option without actively engaging with handle bars.

One should avoid hassly turning the handle bars at the bottom of the hole, because this can lead to being launched.
