Someone on Mastodon got upset with me and unfollowed me because I refused to accommodate actual sociopaths actually sociopathing.

Yes I do get it, it's a mental illness they have no control over.

But the rules of human kindness are still there whether you feel them intrinsically or not.

Mental illness is not a free pass to be destructive to others.

You have to draw the line somewhere.

Sometimes I just don't understand people on social media. As if losing one follower is such a big deal.

The reason you follow someone in the first place is because you like what they were preaching at the time. As time passes, both you and them, are more likely to change. This can be that one grows more similar or more apart and if one grows apart, then just unfollow and/or block.

It is not the follower's duty to make the followee to dance to their flute.
