The communist manifesto would be the start of it all yea.
Just keep in mind as with all debunked theories they may sound good on paper but there is a reason they dont work in practice. So its equally important to read economic theory and why communism inevitably has always and will always cause mass starvations and ultimately collapse.
Balance your reading on both sides. But by all means, start with the theory as proposed and go from there. for that you've picked a decent enough starting point.

Well if you know german, by all means, read the original in german. I think the main ideas are pretty common knowledge. I think it might help by reading up on what "the means of production" means as that is a central theme.
Oh thanks. I don't know any German though. I'll have to make do with the translarion.
