"Prominent atheists insist that the Roman emperor Constantine never really converted to Christianity, pretended to adopt the faith as a political ploy and created the Bible at the Council of Nicaea in 325 AD. And all these claims are total garbage." youtu.be/3HBv_X6k35g @histodon @histodons @religion

It's a real historical debate whether Constantine engaged in realpolitik with his conversion.

The canonization of the Bible is a long complex process and conspiracies pushed into public consciousness by Dan Brown are not helpful. Undoubtedly some atheists repeat it.

I would be wary about learning history from anyone, atheists or not, with a rather strident agenda, and I would include Tim O'Neill in that list. Don't learn it from me either - I am just an interested amateur.

My apologies, I may have overstepped a boundary. Have a good one!

@faassen Please rest assured you have not overstepped any boundries. I valued reading your toot. As you rightly noted such matters have been and are a point of debate.
