As years turn into decades, I am seeing a pattern in #IT where most practitioners no longer #read.
Yes, many, if not most, read tweets, blogs, comics, manga, etc., once every few minutes on their phones. But over the past two decades, I've not worked with someone who actually reads textbooks and novels on a daily basis.
@AmenZwa I do not know if this is a phenomenon particular only to IT; but, it may be indicative of a trend in wider society.
@AmenZwa It is a paradox of the age that we live in that access to books has become ubiquitous and easier than ever before in human history, none the less the reading of in depth material is becoming less prevalent in wider society. I think that technology, electronic distractions and short attention spans all play a role in pulling humans away from in depth reading. The prognosis is not good for the future as AI's abilities expotenially accelerate I am afraid that this trend will only worsen with time.
