Why do some accounts on Mastodon have an '@' and then just has a long string of numbers and letters without any mention of an instance? Should I be concerned with such accounts following me?
@bibliolater If the account is on the same instance your account is, you just see the ‘@‘ name. I am not on the same instance, so you will see a fully qualified string showing my user name (raederle) as well as the instance where my account resides (masto.nu). To me, when I see your account, I see your name (Bibliolater) and your instance (quto.org) with the ‘@‘ in front of your name and instance.
