Is it possible to follow Bluesky accounts on Mastodon and vice versa even when the accounts have not set up a bridge?
@rainercade Thank you for the information. Can others set up the bridge, or does it have to be the account holder?
@bibliolater the account holder must follow the bridge from whatever service they want to bridge FROM. That is a pain as users especially on Bluesky rarely do! I've suggested it to a few but people don't tend to do it! Hence why I think it's a real shame its opt-in!
@bibliolater unfortunately not. ActivityPub and AT Protocol are not interoperable without a bridge at this time.
@bibliolater No, as far as I know, there must be a bridge involved some way. So for example if I am on Bluesky and have NOT bridged you cannot see me here (Mastodon) - The bridge again as far as I'm aware was designed to be 'opt-out' but there was a backlash against the author and they made it 'opt-in' - which I personally feel is a shame!
