Made me think instantly of the "Micrographia" book, by Roberto Hook. A classic from a fascinating period in the History of Science.

@design_RG they are exquisite drawings. Robert Hooke must have been beside himself when seeing all those details for the first time through his own hand ground lenses. If for nothing else, the internet has served a purpose in storing record of his work.
