Anybody ever tried to decap the print head of an inkjet printer cartridge before?
I think it'd be cool to look at the ink channels, MEMS heaters, and maybe try to reverse some of the addressing circuitry (assuming there's a shift register or similar vs a separate pin per element).
The challenge is going to be getting the MEMS bit out of the cartridge without dumping the entire cartridge in acid (very bad idea as the alcohol in the ink is hypergolic with nitric acid) or becoming the proud owner of a CMYK-splattered fume hood.
Loved that talk so much; seeing it in person was also neat
