Nearing the end. Fall color was incredible this morning walking along Zürichsee - this tree has already lost its leaves though, and was reflected in a puddle.

Tories break Britain

The OBR said despite the new support with energy bills, living standards are going to fall by 7% over the next two years. This would wipe out eight years of growth.

Checked out the back windows (harbour) and saw it was currently dry with blue skies. Right, good time to nip out to chores.

Stepped out the front door (street): rain.

FFS 😂 I'll wait five minutes!

Morning all. I'm Shaun, a writer & artist based in northern Scotland. I've been on Mastodon a while, but what with Twitter becoming even more of hellscape free-for-all I'm gonna give it a proper go.

These are from my GN The Boy with Nails for Eyes, which was out this year.

Ukraine

A friend asked yesterday if I wanted to talk on (a major radio channel) about the missile that fell in Przewodów from the perspective of a Pole living in Scotland. Emotive questions were suggested, e.g. will there be a war, who’s missile was it.
I mean. I’m not an expert. But I thought there already was a war? Will the war escalate? Again, not an expert. I hope it won’t, in fact I hope it will end soon and the suffering of the Ukrainian people will end soon as well. Am I scared it will escalate? Sure, I bloody am and so should you - if it escalates it won’t escalate just to Przewodów. But again, not an expert to comment on various escalation scenarios. Who fired the missile? Not an expert. Didn’t track it. Don’t have data. There was a number of press conference organised by people who do have access to data and they presented the most likely scenario.
I said ‘no’ to the request. Primarily because as a comms person I think it’s bad practice to speak to the media in a private capacity (most of the time). I also didn’t comment because (as a trained not practicing journalist) I just don’t understand why you’d ask such questions of a non-expert. And sure, I can talk about how I feel. Not sure there’s many words to describe it. Not sure there’s anything useful to say.
What I did today though was I pinned a yellow and blue sunflower brooch to my winter coat.
