cotoneaster is pretty well liked by wildlife. insects like it very much and birds like the berries. i just saw a mouse climbing in one picking some of the berries. very cute (and the birds of prey probably will enjoy the well fed mouse too ;)
so it may be a neophyt but at least it has some value.
