analog clocks are superior to digital clocks in terms of aesthetics and usability.

@bonifartius Aesthetics, certainly but what do you mean by usability of a clock?

@Pixificial i can take a very short glance at a clock and see that it's 20 to 4pm, parsing 3:40pm/15:40 takes much longer for me. it's a nice property that time can be visualized with segments of a circle. i think of 1h 30m as whole circle plus one half, and it happens subconciously for me.

@bonifartius @Pixificial I think it's just the matter of practice. I don't see the differenct between analog or digital representations of time. but I wouldn't want a chiming clock at home: this is too noisy. perpetual ticking drives me nuts. and chimes every 30 minuts too.

@iron_bug well, i can read both without problems, it's just that analog is feels easier to. kind of the difference of touch interfaces vs. knobs for me.

i grew up with a grandfather clock ticking and chiming all the time, but there are pretty silent analog clocks too :)
