stop acting like someone other than your own government manipulates the actual voting process.

complaining about "influence campaigns" is just saying "my population is too dumb to decide". at this point you can completely stop the "democracy"-bullshit, you said that people need others to decide what's good for them as they are _too dumb_.

@bonifartius @bonifartius it depends on the influence campaigns in question. some of them involve manipulation of the underlying medium

@Hyolobrika
i care jack shit who does the propaganda and what is used for it.

either the government trusts the people to decide right.

or it doesn't. which means that your government thinks that you are too dumb to decide anything.

@bonifartius @bonifartius I'm not saying it matters who does it and what they are promoting. I'm saying it's different when the propaganda accounts are sneakily given special privileges by the platform, especially when the platform is doing that because a government told them to, and especially when said government is supposed to be bound by a law such as the First Amendment to the US constitution.

@Hyolobrika that's to be expected of governments though. they aren't bound by law, they just change the law or bend it. after all, what are you going to do, put them into jail?

a good rule of thumb is that your own government does at least the same kind of things they accuse their enemies of :)
