Today I tried to buy a toaster.
It has bothered me lately that so many things seem to be "made in China", given that China is one of the absolute worst dictatorships in the world. So I decided to get a toaster that was not made in China. I had no other requirements; it should toast bread, and not be made in China.
I failed. I went to several different stores around central Stockholm, found several toaster models of different brands, all "made in China".

@eliasr we have an mail order for rich people here since decades which specialized in the "good old things", manufactum.de
i looked for toasters, the cheapest one is made in germany and costs upwards 100€. https://www.ritterwerk.de/en/toaster
maybe just get a used one from the good old times? ;)

Yes, getting an old used one is my plan now. Maybe there is even some kind of retro repair shop that fixes old ones and sells them, I will look for that.
