guess the real question is if another lord of the rings movie with ian mckellen would be woke.
@genmaicha especially would be nice if the damn remakes would stop. do something new for a change that isn't political first, movie second

I guess you can't make a non-woke movie in Hollywood at this moment.
Race-shifts and token minorities are a minimum, but you probably also need a woke message.
Even the original Peter Jackson trilogy made some concessions to the zeitgeist - mostly enhancing the roles of girlbosses (mainly Arwen and to a much lesser degree Eowyn (who is an interesting mixture of girlboss and girlfailure in the book ...)).
There are enough old films to watch.
And I keep asking myself: Why watch movies at all?
I have better things to do, watching movies distracts me.
@DCR yes, same with computer games: enough good old ones!
distraction is fine, from time to time ;)
I'm reading "V for Vendetta" just now. VERY fine, something to look forward to.
