pretty much. WHY should anyone use this vs. instagram?
"federation is too hard for npcs" and removing the unique selling point leaves "not big tech". people who don't want big tech will do the legwork of understanding federation. removibg the best parts selects for asshole users.

@bonifartius@qoto.org "The People" don't care about ethical, they were willingly and gladly using the worst platforms available to them. That's why he can just rip out the federation aspect and nobody will care.
He seemingly doesn't care much about the ethics either, lying to users in order to try and become a social media megaserver doesn't strike me as "the right thing to do" when he, as a developer, should know better.
