i certainly am not perfect, i use some non-free software. my phone contains non-free software. i don't have the money or time to gnuboot my main computer. i don't have the money or time for a broken phone.
if those break hard, i'm without a notebook or a phone. which would be a very serious problem for me.
i can't spare some hundreds of euros for yet another refurbished device, my old ones are pretty broken. i don't have the time or hardware knowledge to reflash with clamps or something.
but BY THE GNU, i do know that free software is always better in every aspect. i fully appreciate that using non-free software is bad.
i don't need to invent excuses why it's "fine". that would be like saying my nicotine consumption is just "fine". it isn't "fine". it's something i have to work on.
the FSF surely isn't perfect, nothing in this world is.
people criticized their board, new board was elected. wasn't the "right" people for the critics. FSF argues that an arms race between people who burn cycles isn't good and anti-user, critics spew some more bullshit. like anubis? fine, use it. i don't care. it's still a shit solution to a shit problem and the FSF is right about it.
bullshit anti-FSF takes are made by people watching the shadows in platos cave. EVERY vile critic of the FSF i've encountered was also feverish in support of morally bankrupt anti-freedom ideas. these are the kind of people that would support a totalitarian collectivist regime if their peer group would tell them it's the good cause.
