so the olympic stuff wasn't supposed to be "last supper" but obviously "feast if the gods" and so was PERFECTLY FINE because it was something from history. don't make a fuss!

i suppose the same rules are applying for mocking other things from history as well.

@sun i think they buy microsoft to have someone to sue in case of these fuckups. nobody cares for 5000 lost flights if the 500 million loss is paid by someone.

@vriska @sun yes, but now if you ask to be left out of culture war arguments your project is explicitly targeted for that and accused of carrying water for nazis. (t. ladybird)

constantly treating people like shit begets a similar and opposing reaction

@Suiseiseki
it's irrelevant for this that they buy proprietary software as well. they also buy "vaccines" in shady deals via SMS.

> The Next Generation Internet (NGI) is a European Commission (EC) initiative that aims to shape the development and evolution of the Internet into an Internet of Trust. An Internet that responds to people’s fundamental needs, including trust, security, and inclusion, while reflecting the values and the norms all citizens enjoy in Europe.

doesn't get more EU than EU commission. it's like those 100% state funded NGOs.

mastodon received 50k€ (iirc) for either plain development or eunomia which was the sentiment analysis psychopathry. i would have to look that up again.

i can live with liberapay or something. gotta stay realistic. when the real choice is between taxation (pay up or get physically violated) or some proprietary parts i'm free to not use (i can send a mail and ask for other means, my first shell account was payed by putting cash in an envelope.) the proprietary parts are more free. monero would be nice, but it's increasingly hard to exchange to fiat money and people want food.

(side remark: gnu taler is questionable for me as it enables taxation on purpose. that's why it's funded by NGI imho)

two things:

- this happens when projects depend on government handouts, which is why i dislike the EU funding of free software. it adds dependency where none should exist. instead of being taxed people should (and most will) use the extra money to fund projects. being taxed to death isn't a law of nature.

- it's ok to specifically name people who often act against the interests of the ecosystem and work together with governments on AI "misinformation" detection and sentiment analysis.

I respect and appreciate all the work the Mastodon team and all the various volunteers have done, no question about that. This is not about calling...

At the Black Hat security conference, hackers will debut a new open-source tool called the RayV Lite, designed to let anyone hack computer chips with frickin' lasers for just $500.

wired.com/story/rayv-lite-lase

Previously available tools to do this typically cost as much as $150,000.

@sun yeah, cuda is absolutely proprietary. maybe opencl does work with nouveau, but i guess you want to run something cuda.

@shibao @vriska @sun i think it's almost completely about how you were taught to deal with shit. that's what determines if you'll be a nervous wreck or if it's just an unpleasant memory you can properly deal with.

@iron_bug @Sophistifunk i don't think setting fire to anything is particularly helpful

@STP first step is stopping metally enslaving themselves by accepting phony authority as something akin law of the universe. as long as more of the problem is seen as the solution, things will be shit.

@DCR well, probably not the government but who's in control, but yes.

@Sophistifunk i'm so annoyed that everything is politics now, but shit like this is infuriating.
