doing a new thread for this for being totally OT: i think deep down i just am sad that i don't have close RL friends anymore. i know some new people by now who seem to be nice but i wouldn't call them my friends. maybe it's midlife crisis or something.

or maybe the shitty psyops really did work. the "pandemic" really did make me pretty careful what i say to people i know: i already was in a not ao great place, seeing people i thought i know breaking contact with their parents over vaccination status really fucked me up. i now expect that if some "law" says put people in camps for disagreeing with current thing, 80% of the population will do it happily. even, maybe especially, your own family and friends.

@ullard @SuperDicq i spend 10 years with XMPP in half working state. stuff like file transfers never worked right, the functions that worked were roughly IRC level. i started using matrix in 2017 or 2018 and it just worked ™.

i think IRCv3 looks very promising and they even manage to not fuck up everything existing by it. the only thing they need are clients which look more like messengers.

i actually have set my mind on using IRC more in the lasts months, i just don't know people on there. i use matrix mostly for RL stuff and some select channels. it's the usual problem of people being on different messengers.

maybe i should just use IRC for shitposting or something.

@SuperDicq i'm really pissed about this because things were good and worked well for two or three years.

@SuperDicq really thinking about just abandoning matrix. the amount of bullshit (social and technical) they done in the last two years is amazing.

Choose your life:

You live in a prison, you can not leave the prison, but the prison does sometimes serve free beer.

or:

You live outside of the prison, you are free to live out any type of lifestyle you've ever wanted and you'll be free to travel to anywhere you want. (but you sometimes have to pay for the beer)

This is what we mean when we say "free as in beer" vs "free as in freedom". Something being "free as in beer" is considered a bad thing in this context.

acquaintances who are inclined to this alternative stuff are falling prey to an essential oils pyramid scheme :stable_parrot:

and it's not the oils that are bullshit, oils are great for some ailments. i use one essential oil myself, it works very well and i can get it everywhere without joining a club.

it's the fucking obvious pyramid scheme utilizing recruiting techniques of cults. these people talk about the oils of one manufacturer like if they were imbued with the holy spirit or something.

Unfortunately, this is happening more and more often. 😕

Lunduke put out a new video about Drew DeVault, talking about the lolicon stuff: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8YwlFEvH6ME

Most notably Lunduke has been messaging Drew DeVault throughout this whole thing. Drew apparently asked Lunduke for money in order to give a statement, initially. Now, post-lolicon, he ignores Lunduke requests for a denial or statement of any kind.

In other news, water is wet

still nothing about norways involvement in blowing up nordstream while they clearly have a big interest in removing competition.

@J @sim Mainly I'm glad to have a second square in that thing filled in (although the left side label went missing). 0 said "pernia is underrated awful" and it seemed like a reasonable thing to chart but I only filled in one square and the file has sat right there for months.
