I paid Hugo Gameiro @hugo for a single user instance on his service at Masto Host https://mastodon.social/@mastohost for many many years. He always took my money and never had a problem with anything I ever posted or at least never said anything. I haven’t posted there for a very long time in any significant way as I have 2 other instances which I built custom front ends for and just finished building a gigantic social network from scratch but I kept supporting the guy just because, from his postings, he seemed like he needed it and was trying to do good.

But just as soon as he gets a bunch of new customers because of the recent influx of new users to the Fediverse he deletes my account because of “hate speech” without any warning and no chance to get backups myself or delete all my content.

This is another good example of why you should never trust, feel sorry for or help in any way these vile people. Anything you do for them they will just use to hurt you or some other good person as soon as they get a chance.

#Friendica needs new contributors!

I'm not used to do this, but with the large influx of new users and node admins recently coming from #Twitter, our small team is now behind the curve for handling support requests, bug reports and bring about much-needed features.

The project is built on a #PHP/#MySQL platform, but we also need people to be able to assist others just using the software to give developers some space.

FINALLY, somebody gets it!
The reason why I prefer the old stuff over the new stuff is because the old stuff just works.

SysV works better than SoystemD, GTK2 works better than GTK3 and 4 combined, XMPP works better than whatever came after that, online forums, BBS's, newsgroups, and IRC all work better than Discucked, Guilded, ChatWork, Slack, or whatever else, static HTML+CSS-only websites work better than all the WordPress, Medium, Blogspot, some weird SoyScript required frontends, and all the other unnecessary cruft, old SFC, MD, PS1, N64, and older PC games are more fun than current year PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, or mobile gatcha gaymes, and so on.

Apparently, gatcha gaymes are better than all the current year AAA console and PC crap, simply because the gatcha gayme community stood up against censorship early on.
