@bonifartius Yeah, exactly. Who needs to engage in conversation when you have a button you can press instead? When you can judge people based on a rating system? Seems they want people to think about whether they trust posts... but I don't think they realise what atmosphere this will create and entice, that it will make some people more anxious and less trusting. I just hate how they have brought this problem to the fediverse when this is a problem for big tech. Even the fact that a lot of outcasts came here is the result of the failure of big tech who are taking similar measures that these people are.

Internet for students in schools? My school didn't even have enough money for CURTAINS in all classrooms and I graduated 2018
Air conditioning in schools? HAH LOL they already have windows, just freeze in winter, state ain't money for better Corona protection in schools. Oh and of course, in summers you just die of course
But German politicians are like - we need tablets for kids for education!!11!!1!
Oh, my school wasn't a countryside mini school btw., it was in the centre of a BIG city and also one of the MOST POPULAR schools of that city
Only private schools have a good equipment but my parents for example couldn't really afford it, also like, we're GERMANY, why are our schools stuck in the 19th century as if we were a 3rd world country?!
But yeah, internet for students' Smartphones/Laptops? Forget it, teachers would be against that anyways because they don't know that mobile internet exists anyways and that not having free WLAN is just classist again since rich kids will have their 10gb/month flats while I for example didn't have an internet flat until 11th grade AT ALL and then just 1.5gb/month

The answer to misinformation is community. You let small communities build which form trusting bonds between each other. Then those communities exchange ideas and have important conversations freely to come to the truth of things. They will protect each other, they will correct bad information out of genuine care and be in a better position to do so as there will be trust and respect. But we live in a low trust society and we have destroyed community. The kind that would be able to protect and support each other. How sad.
