@iceloops @mer one big mistake we make nowadays is extensive brain and cultural damage through things like the maturity age meme, and segregated schooling grades.
in the past it was not seen as strictly bad if children worked and got paid and when they went to school there were mixed age groups so it was perfectly normal to have people in classes at different levels of progression.
we've done stupid shit like lock proficiency in all things to grades so you can't just be bad at math and good at reading, and they create age group memes to cut people off so they don't interact across age gaps, and then we replace personal defense and character with checking your age card.
they also have no problem just ignoring the age card if they want more conviction points. they always "try someone as an adult" meaning the law implicitly recognizes age bands are not even an appropriate system, but you are only mature for the purpose of making the prison industrial complex rich. or if they government needs more waste fodder to die in some bullshit war. you're never mature when it doesn't suit them :ablobcateyeroll:
