The past few weeks, I've rolled my eyes at the NY Times online edition, with a section header "Arts $amp; Leisure". They should have people who can get this encoding right.

Then I looked at the HTML, and I must admit it looks right to my inexpert eye. I have no idea what's wrong.

@bwbeach Checking on the NYT app, there isn’t an “Arts & Leisure” section; only “Arts”.

Instead of “write once, run anywhere”, we have “write once, render anywhere” with multiple versions (and contexts) of print, browser, app.

And this is the easiest version of this problem to check and verify. Not Good™.
