I like Catherine Rampell's (@crampell) "New year's resolutions for the media". With a massively consequential election season coming up, we need the media to report on the differences between the candidates, not just the horse race.
How will 2025 be different under Trump or Biden? Which of them has promised to send the Justice Department after his enemies? Which has had success bringing the economy back after COVID, and what are his plans for the future? How is the Inflation Reduction Act doing, and what are the prospects for 2025? Would Trump undo it? Who has plans for giant detention camps for suspected immigrants?

NPR did not start off the year well. Instead of reporting on the differences between the candidates, and how they want to changes things if elected, we got more updates on the horse race.
The only mention of differences in this report was that they candidates have "starkly different visions for the country". Nothing about how those visions differ, or what those differences would mean for us citizens.
