@trinsec I could see him but he couldn't see me. He's now created another account on qoto and we can connect. Apparently his first server has an enthusiastic block list!
@bykimbo Yeah, we don't like blocking around haphazardly for this reason. The users have the tools available to block whole domains already.
Hope this is resolved?
@trinsec he's left with two accounts at the moment so that will need to be resolved somehow, but at least we can connect now, thanks.
@bykimbo Some people have multiple accounts for multiple circle of connections. It isn't uncommon to have more than one account. :)
But if he really wants to stick to one (which is reasonable!) then yeah you might want to figure some things out. ;)
@bykimbo @vollans
Has she tried putting the address of your home page, https://qoto.org/@bykimbo, into her search box and then clicking through from there. She may find a Follow button. I had to do this with one or two friends that I had been unable to find otherwise.
@AllSerene @vollans I think he tried everything but he's opened an account on the same server as me now so at worst a temporary fix. Thanks x
@AllSerene He has - the issue is that aus.social has "suspended" federation with a load of different servers. I've had to open an account here to communicate with my friends. It all seems a bit counter to the idea of open and free communications, a bit like the old Deja News service in the 90s.
@bykimbo If you both can follow each other without issue, and upon rechecking are still followed, you're probably not blocked.
Their server doesn't display which servers they block, but my bet is on 'not blocked'.
