BTW, here's a little interesting fact. You may have noticed that cameras in the House the last few days are frequently focusing on groups of congresspersons and areas other than the front of the chamber. This is NOT typical. C-SPAN operates the cameras and feeds them out. Normally, House leadership controls where the cameras point, and that is virtually always to the front, avoiding any other areas or groups of persons in the chamber. But with the House leadership in limbo, C-SPAN has full control, and they're wisely making the most of it!
In case you're an author (or any other artist) who has ever wondered if your work makes a difference, I thought I'd share this. Our son was sad about having to return to school. He had a lousy day. Now that he's back, he's resumed reading Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman's "Good Omens" and has been laughing and enjoying himself. That book is making him happy. That's what art can do. Never stop making art. You may never hear about it, but someone will love it. #Art #Artists #Books #Bookstodon

45°F and raining in Juneau, AK today, 0°F to below zero a couple of weeks ago. Our climate is so weird due to our location between the Pacific Ocean and a giant ice field ;)

Posting here to get the widest audience. This is a seriously sad thing, stealing regalia.

Had another 'smartphone won't work' dream last night. At some event, I got tapped to do the weather update. My Bluetooth mic/headset connected to the console just fine. I could see the levels coming from me were good. But when I went to my smartphone to load a page with the most recent weather and forecast, I only got random screens, touch commands often didn't work, and time was running out to go live.
What's weird is that all the other technology in the dream worked as expected - it was only the phone that didn't. I've had similar dreams in the past where the phone doesn't respond.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is it something about my brain's connection to the phone?
A micro-theatre. I love it. Every park could have one.

Good morning from Alaska, where we're slowly untangling from the Christmas travel snafu. It was especially bad here because SEATAC was closed and bad weather hampered flights in Anchorage, Southeast Alaska and southwest Alaska.
It was a hungry Christmas for thousands of Alaskans because of monthslong delays in SNAP, the state-administered federal food aid program: https://www.adn.com/alaska-news/2022/12/24/thousands-of-alaskans-havent-received-food-stamps-in-months-with-no-relief-in-sight/ #Alaska
Merry Christmas from the Richard Parker and Karen Parker household in Alaska.
Late comfort food dinner of tomato soup and grilled cheese.
Listening to the Philadelphia Singers at Logan Square, and remembering my wonderful colleagues, Audrey Bentham and Joyce Lieberman .
A blessing upon your houses from ours in Alaska!
