As someone who came back after a long time, god this place is totally different. So unfamiliar. People I knew are gone, my feed is almost empty, there's hashtags now and this news center and so much more.
But then I'm also not the girl who used to toot in spanish using google translate and talk in puns and promote a cartoon religion. So fair enough I suppose.
That said, what do I do here now? I feel like I'm stranded in the middle of an ocean and there are vessels nearby but I don't know how to contact them and get onboard them.
So solo drifting it is......

I'm a relative newcomer myself, and may be using This Place differently than you do, but...
I searched on some hashtags that I'm interested in, and looked at my server's Local and Federated streams (with "slow mode" on in Preferences / Settings), and was rather loose in who I followed :) and now I find myself getting updates from lots and lots of vessels. (Arguably too many, even!)
For what it's worth...
@ceoln hey and thanks! I was mostly being sort of nostalgic with this since I used to be quite active here 2-3 years ago.
Btw are you also using the app? I can't find the federated and global streams anymore here.

I always just use the website, none of the apps. I guess I'm old school. :) But any sensible app should make the federated and local streams reasonably obvious, I would hope! Silly apps.
