The correct phrase is “just deserts.” The “deserts” is etymologically related to the word “deserve.” It means to get what one deserves.

People probably confuse these two because, just like a dessert that comes at the end of a meal, a person’s “just deserts” comes at the end of a sequence of bad behaviors or decisions. However, that conflation is incorrect. No sugary confections come in play here.
