Ah, I think I understand that. :) On qoto, though, I think I see "show thread" links for things like that that appear in my timeline. Is that not a standard thing? Or does it not do what I think it does?

Ah, I think I do understand it now. :) I hadn't fully internalized the difference in distribution and visibility between a brand new post and a reply. Apparently the Public setting doesn't really mean it for reply; didn't realize this.
