I've always wondered about the theory behind that song.

He gave her her heart last year, and she gave it to someone else, but this year he apparently has it back!

Did he have to find that third person and talk them into returning it? Did he pay them for it? Were they surprised that she had given them someone else's heart in the first place?

Or did he grow a new one during the year, maybe? Or maybe someone else gave him their heart, and he considers it his own now, roughly the same way she did last year?

So many questions!
