@AlexandraErin Are you using the default app? From what I understand it's only there as a default. People aren't really supposed to use it.

@baishen That's got to be the most Mastodon thing I've heard yet, and somehow I did not see it coming.

@AlexandraErin I was somewhat surprised when I found out. I was told that the app was just put there because people would join expecting there to be an official app like other social media.

@baishen

Now that I am more caffeinated/medicated I can understand how they could have arrived there, making a "federated" approach that is meant to move away from a central/official model.

But I feel like the reluctance to meet the users where they are on that kind of thing is one of the big thing that's dragged Twitter and Tumblr and other social media sites down over the years, so it's not super comforting to see it in play here.

@baishen

Oh, I'm not caffeinated/medicated enough yet, apparently, because I meant to ask if you have any Android app you would recommend. I tried Ivory because I recalled some buzz on Twitter for the iOS release, but it's still only in Early Access in the Play Store and is giving me page not loading errors when I try to sign in.

@AlexandraErin

I just always use the web interface (the qoto version, which is I guess somewhat modified from the default, although I've heard other people say the same thing about the default), on Android and ChromeOS and Windows. Seems to work great for me!
