So there's just no Speaker of the House now? Everyone's going to just sort of mill around in confusion, play cards, head home early? I guess that keeps them from causing new trouble, but it seems like we're overpaying them for that...

It would have been neat if like 12 of the most mainstream unimpeachable (or the most left-wing even) Democrats had voted to keep McCarthy as Speaker. Imagine the frothing at the mouth!
I suppose there's some boring reason they didn't do that, sigh.

Ach, the interwebs tell me that "Representative Patrick McHenry of North Carolina will temporarily take over as interim speaker". That seems boring! So things just continue on as usual? Phht!
"Patrick McHenry" is a pretty amusing name, at least. "Give me McLiberty, or give me McDeath!" 😊
