Threads will collect data about Fediverse users without consent (and probaly illegal, atleast in the EU)
"Threads integrates with third party services (“Third Party Services”) via an interoperable protocol, and is part of a network sometimes called the Fediverse. In the Fediverse, Threads users can share content with, view and interact with content from, follow, and be followed by people outside of Threads who use such Third Party Services (“Third Party Users”). To enable these interactions between Threads users and Third Party Users we share information about Threads users with Third Party Services, and collect and process information about Third Party Users, even if they don’t have an account on Threads or other Meta Products as described further below."

So tomorrow there are national elections in The Netherlands and I need to acquaint you with two oddities. For one, we take our democracy entirely for granted so we mostly vote in.. garbage bins. Secondly, our ballots are HUGE as they list 28 parties and 1128 candidates (no joke). So we need to make good use of the space in the garbage bin. For this purpose, polling stations are equipped with the STEMBUSSTAMPER, specially designed to tamp down wayward ballots:

Last I checked, Montreal still had a tax on the books which they added in 1976 for their Olympics.
Google announced that starting in June 2024, ad blockers such as #uBlock Origin will be disabled in Chrome 127 and later with the rollout of Manifest V3 (#Mv3).
The new #Chrome manifest will prevent using custom filters and stops on demand updates of blocklist. Only #Google authorized updates to browser extension will be allowed in the future, which mean an automatic win for Google in their battle to stop YouTube #AdBlockers .
#ManifestV3 is deceitful and threatening to your privacy, and now is a good time to switch to #Firefox (@mozilla) and/or #TorBrowser (@torproject) if you haven't done so already!

#Pigeons are still (sometimes) faster than your #internet
Racing pigeons clock an average of 40mph and typically race up to 400mi, roughly D.C. to Boston, according to the American Racing Pigeon Union. With the boost of a tailwind, pigeons have been recorded going as fast as 110mph and as far as 1,000 miles.
At certain data volumes and distances, the pigeon is a quicker option for large swaths of #rural #America, where internet speeds can lag far behind national average.

I did successfuly burn #UbuntuTouch with #UBPorts on a #pixel3a #smartphone. Works flawlessly so far.
In the process I did look at infos on forums and found out some people complaining about issues, some of them ending to brick the phone.
If you plan to have a try and feel confused, I'll be glad to help 😋

Seeing folks suggest it's legitimate for YouTube to ban ad-blockers because the site needs to be paid for somehow.
Here's my view... if the cost of YouTube is watching some ads, then fair enough. I can mute them after all, just as I do on my TV.
However, that's NOT the issue. The issue is less "having to watch ads" and more about the tracking and profiling technology embedded in those ads. I do NOT consent to that (and under EU law, I don't have to).
