CS Story, Crazy Customer. Long
As a matter of fact, let me tell you the most bonkers shit a customer has ever said to me.
So, I was fairly new in the job I'm working now- selling furniture online to restaurants- and a customer calls up regarding a $200.00 charge to his credit card.
The charge was for additional services he used at time of delivery- specifically a lift gate and inside delivery. These things are not free, and are not included in a standard shipping quote. It specifically states this on the invoice you electronically sign (Standard online two-step procedure) before we charge your credit card.
So, this guy- we'll call him Shit heel- goes on a rant for about twenty minutes. Just non-stop insults and bullshitery, generally questioning my company's ability to do business. Very standard stuff, to be honest, in the CS world. Usually someone will yell themselves out, and become more amiable and open to solutions.
This did not happen for Shit Heel. No, he was going strong after 20 minutes and wouldn't stop.
So, finally, I butt in and I say to this "gentleman" "Sir, I realize that you are upset, but I'm at the bottom of the heap here. I'm not personally responsible for charging your card."
Before I can complete my thought, he says the following:
"There were guards at Auschwitz who were at the bottom of the heap and they were personally responsible for what happened there just like you are personally responsible for what has happened here."
I don't know how this dude found moral equivalency between genocide and a $200.00 legitimate, but unexpected, charge on his credit card. Somehow, it was there for him.
To this day it is the most amazing and unbelievable thing a customer has ever said to me.
