when i was at uni a zoomer i was partnered with made the sincere comment that he was upset and disappointed by the master and slave devices on the piece of hardware we were using. i tried to brush it off but it was clearly something that has been bubbling up for a while

@augustus I don't particularly care about names changing.
But I noticed that this is just confirmation bias:

1: You see a similarity:
master/slave nomenclature vs real 19 century slavery;

2: You hypothesize that this name similarity must have negative effects;

3: You collect only favorable evidence/arguments for the your hypotheses and disregards any contrary evidence/arguments as racism.

Not to mention that:
A: The favorable evidence/arguments are often fallacious themselves;
B: Making a public post on the internet and calling anyone that disagrees with you a "racist" is not a great way to make friends.
