28th FFebruary each year is celebrated as National Science Day in #India, marking #Raman's discovery of the #RamanEffect.
Though Sir Venkata Raman was the first non-white person to get a Nobel prize in STEM, not many Indians were conferred the prestigious prize in the later years. 
This does not, however, mean that Indians did not have any remarkable contribution to modern science after #Raman. In this thread, in the coming days, I will be posting about the research and biographies of some Indians who, despite having made breakthroughs in science, were never awarded the Swedish prize.
