Does anybody here have a good book on electronic load measurements and best practices? Specifically, on how to extend the measurement range of an electronic load? Say, I have a 400W source (e.g. PV panel) but only a 200 or 300W electronic load?

Sure, but that’s not good for an IV curve - only one point. My idea was to put one in parallel (or serial, respectively) with an electronic load. Just wondering is there are common methods to do that.
@cweickhmann I guess that's a question @smallsolar could answer. But I really would guess there is more equipement needed, if your electronics doesn't have a power control itself.
@cweickhmann How about a good old resistor if you haven't got a solar controller at hand?
