An make no mistake: FOSS in turn means many small to midsize local companies with local jobs. If one of them fucks up like CrowdSomething did, you down a few machines, not millions.
May be a bit more expensive. But if you get resilience and local high ed jobs in return, that’s good. Also: public code review.
