According to the article they have already a cleaning solution: A special train with "cylindrical brushes".
This project will run for three years to evaluate it's potential for the other 5000 km of railway tracks in Switzerland, they say.
@uersugredu My assumption is that this trial shows its ridiculous, and it will not be pursued. If you need to install it in one place to prove that, so be it. @radundtat @fj @temptoetiam
