@db Yet, to be Frank, I don't think high speed rail is the thing to be solved. The fact that in the past rail infrastructure tended to be high speed only is one of the issues. The main problem with the German (and e.g. the French) rail network is the problematic state of the regional network and small lines. And yes: Of course, there's a general capacity problem but more high speed won't solve that.
