I find it fascinating that libertarian tech bros often reject state investment as socialist, pouring huge amounts of money into the world and hence bad because it's not free-market, doesn't create revenue and is based on state interests. Consequentially, the jobs created by this are bad as well.
At the same time they are totally fine with a bunch of companies, pouring huge amounts of money onto AI, not creating revenue, circumventing market principles (amongst other things by vendor lock-in, or simply stealing ... sorry scraping IP) and socialising the risk around it. And those jobs created are good.
This really is next level.
