'In a scattered show, the eye gravitates to the mysteriously poetic, as in a photographic series of Central American and Mexican ruins by the Argentine artist Leandro Katz. Katz retraced the travels of British artist-explorer Frederick Catherwood, who in the 19th century made exquisite drawings of ancient Mayan cities and published them for an exotica-obsessed audience back home.'
