Lots of feelings, but not quite the ones I expected. I was prepared for it to be hard to let it go, along the lines of "Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good." But that's not what I'm feeling. I'm at peace. Grateful for the transformative journey of writing it. And I'm happy that I did. But I'm also ready to see it make its way into the world (and to move on).
The book asks and answers: What will it take to develop more effective treatments for brain and mental disorders? Starting with the question: What do we need to understand about how the healthy brain works? It's not written from the perspective of some lone genius, but from the perspective of a curator, channeling the communal genius of our era. It's on track to publish in Spring 2025. While that's still a long ways off, the hard part is finished.
I began this project ~2.5 years ago. Much gratitude for everyone who supported me along the way. I've noted my thanks to all of you and the wonderful furry elephant ethos in the Acknowledgements. ❤️
