Wax Vanitas (c.1700) - intended to remind us of the certainty of death. One side features a skull with insects feasting on decaying flesh. The other side resembles Queen Elizabeth I. It reads: “vanity of vanities, all is vanity.”

This object is from the Wellcome Collection in #London.

@JanNolta bringst up a burning topic: how will we as a society leverage the massive price tags of new therapies...especially if these therapies can lead to cures?

"Developing countries are attuned to this need after many waited nearly a year for ample Covid-19 vaccine supplies as wealthy countries enjoyed an extended period of first dibs. Americans, for example, were offered third doses of vaccines at a time when 98 percent of people in low-income countries had not received a single shot. Vaccine hoarding cost more than a million people their lives, according to a recent study in the journal ."

'Most of Italy's schools lack mechanical ventilation systems. Instead, teachers are urged to keep windows open when weather conditions permit.

If the most efficient systems were installed "we could pass from 250 cases per 100,000 students (the alert level set by the education ministry) to a rate of 50 per 100,000," the Hume foundation and the Marche regional government said'
