Amazingly, the comics event I’m going to this weekend, SPX, has a masking policy. I am in favor of this? I will be masking for the airports and flights, given the current uptick (I have masked on all flights since I resumed flying anyway), and I like the message on the SPX site that they’re doing so in part to protect vulnerable attendees and exhibitors.

I went largely mask free all summer (outside of travel: planes, most public transit), and didn't feel at risk. Since returning from Maine in July, so many people I know got COVID for the first time (including my younger kid, still slowly recovering their stamina, though otherwise ok).

@glennf Seems prudent to mask now at an event with lots of indoor face-to-face. So many I know personally are getting it in the last few weeks for the first time. Good you didn't get it from your kid.

@danb Yes, I don’t see a downside? Particularly with RSV also out there. I never minded wearing a mask too much; I know for some people it felt unbearable. We were able to isolate my kid in the house, but only after their symptoms were full blown. My wife has somehow avoided COVID so far—may have had an asymptomatic case, but never tested positive across 3 1/2 years!
