"I came across a cache of old photos and invitations to teenage parties..." - Pet Shop Boys, Being Boring.
One aspect of getting older is realising you have to get rid of lots of stuff. Events and memories that we marked at the time, but friends who have moved on, acquaintances on a fun weekend. For me a reminder of good times in my youth, but meaningless to my kids who will one day have to soft through and discard, as my own parents are doing.
So thanks to Matt, Annette, Richard, Maeve, Aoife, Alex and the rest I have forgotten the names of. These were good times, and that's all my kids need to know. It was 1999 and we did party hard in Ireland.
Tokyo crash - imagery analysis
Again, someone will do a more accurate version of this, but we can see how the right wingtip of the Dash-8 is just at the nose of the A350, whilst A350's engines are larger than the diameter of the Dash8. A complete rear-end would have shown much more damage on the A350.
Likely the A350 nose hit the wing, span the Dash8 to the left and the A350 engine also just caught the wing. There's little other damage on the A350 left wing that would suggest a collision with the rear stabiliser.
Tokyo crash - imagery analysis
Quick comparison of the two aircraft that collided at Haneda. Shows how it was possible for the A350 to have relatively little damage immediately after the collision (collapsed nose, dent on the left wing, no damage down the left side of the fuselage).
In the absence of mm accurate radar and black boxed, analysis of the landing lights just before collision will be key.
Kiddo had a 6am work start so I walked her round, then managed a 5km run for the first time since October. Then discovered my new #running shoes, whilst comfy, are "Women's".
Apparently this means wider toebox and narrower heel. Who'd a thunk it?
Should have looked closer. The second photo above was some gorgeous pastries, also a staple of BA cafes.
This is what a cabinet of empanadas looks like. NB: they are not at all the same as Cornish Pasties.
One thing I really miss about #Argentina is Alfajores and Empanadas. In BA there would be shops with rows and rows of these, all different varieties, but here they're usually presented as greasy tiny dumplings. Found Chango just off Bond Street in #London, and these are *really nice*.
Any Porteños need to pay attention - you would clear up.

Most of Xmas shopping done, and a decent amount of wrapping also completed. Which means it's time to unwrap the festive #cheese!
Perfectly normal morning news for #Argentina.
The President-elect goes to meet the incumbent at the official residence. Nothing unusual there, but the journey through the city is typically bonkers.
Milei is in a small convoy of couple of ordinary hatchbacks, accompanied by press paparazzi on motorbikes with their phones attached to the top of thir helmets, and at one point a drone flying through the streets.
In traffic, he jumps out of the car for a moment to shake hands with some kids on a school bus.
At another point, one of the motorbikes dives in front of traffic to cross the avenue ahead of the convoy, and as the horns blare, is reminded by the hosts to be careful.
This is from an excellent timeline by Andrew Timme (https://dribbble.com/shots/15410048-Tenet-Timeline) and shows how the story plays out.
I've highlighted the section from the perspective of the future civilisation where the alogrithm is created.
That gives loads of options for either a limited series like Dark or a prequel movie.
Against a backdrop of catastrophic climate change, a scientist discovers the algorithm and creates the inversion machines. Those in power realise that this might offer a future in an Earth where the climate improves, albeit a a risk of destroying the Earth anyway either through annihilation (which we never see) or grandfather paradoxes.
Then we have a period where the baddies learn to do battle backwards, and start a war to control the machines. The war is mentioned, and there's a vast collection of "detritus" in a dedicated research institute.
Then there's the work to bury the artefacts in the past, which presumably must be multi-generational, and offer lots of scope for interesting interactions.
Thinking about the history of #MonoBBS, I realise we've got a huge archive of data and (hopefully) some interesting comments from the MicroVotes section. This was started in 2003 and remains one of the most active sections, with 1672 votes over the years.
Mono was started as a student project at #CityUniversity in London, then became an internal social network, before being opened up to externals and the wider world.
Makes great use of colour, fast to navigate, read and post, and included it's own ASCII animation language to allow for rich utilities, games and dynamic topic sections.
Monochrome (www.mono.org) is a #TelnetBBS which is still active after over 30 years.
Giving it a little boost here to see if there's interest. So if you were a fan of the #BBS and the communities that they fostered, have a look.
Just another worried little citizen of this modern-day Pompeii. Techie at UCL, working on Process Automation with MS Power Platform. Scatterbrain, interested in education, languages, Space and lots of disparate things. sorry.
Keeping my space toots at @astrodad as an experiment in self-moderation :)
