Why Thomas Heatherwick’s misguided ramblings are too dangerous to ignore. Thank you Olly Wainwright for pointing this out.

Wondering why ther's so much emphasis on a two-state solution in Israel/Palestine when it's so broken, led me to this article from earlier in the year. Authors also noted that long before the October atrocities and reaction, a storm was brewing.
"The promise of a two-state solution made sense as an alternative future in the years around the 1993 Oslo accords... But that period ended long ago. Today, it makes little sense to let fantastical visions for the future obscure deeply embedded existing arrangements."

The fact that other arenas are unequal should not desensitize us to the unfairness within our immediate environment. If anything, it should be a clear call to rectify imbalances and push for a more equitable playing field. It’s a matter of principle and ethical responsibility. Accepting unfairness because it’s pervasive elsewhere is a defeatist attitude that stunts progress and innovation.
Musk promotes deadbird site account featuring antisemitism and Russian propaganda.
Most journalists, of course, continue to pour their work into the site, thereby supporting Musk.
I hope they locate their collective conscience at some point.

I remember the early 90's, watching scandal after scandal, rampant corruption, and the bulldozing of communities and nature (literal and physical). The growing ambition and opportunities for citizens, looking towards Europe, squandered by a government that had run out of ideas and ministers determined to line their own pockets before the end.
We need to #GTTO asap.
Nightshade is a new data poisoning tool for artists who want to fight back against generative #AI companies exploiting their work without permission or compensation.
It messes up training data in ways that could cause serious damage to image-generating AI models.

Sharing this, for any UK historians out there, a taster for a paper I'm giving next week on Tuesday evening, the story of an Edwardian rogue and charlatan - Horatio Bottomley - he started life in post-Chartist London as a radical Liberal, and moved right from there

Temporary contracts, low salaries and cost-of-living hikes force many researchers to put off parenthood and other big decisions.

#BBC Rushdi Abualouf reports from Khan Younis:
'every night there are #airstrikes in this area.
When you talk about the #humanitarian situation, things are getting worse and worse here.
People are watching the trucks coming in but there is no aid being distributed.
Very little aid goes to the UN shelters - about 130 shelters for the more than half a million people who are displaced from their homes elsewhere in the #Gaza Strip.'

Sergio Massa, front runner after yessterday's #Argentina presidential election calls for national unity, declares that the polarisation in political society known as "La Grieta" is dead.
Well I'm off to bed. This has been a much more interesting election day than UK and US #politics, maybe it was the nostalgia of immersing myself and in .ar Spanish again and hearing cute turns of phrase I'd forgotten. "un ratito" or "muchachos".
The "Waldo"-like cartoon candidates were an amusing side piece which I would like to see here. The "Don't Tread On Me" flags... not so much.
Seems unlikely #Argentina they'll have the scary Gene Hunt as President tomorrow morning, but he's not going away.
